The word is spelled petaQ in romanized Klingon. On the right, you'll see it written in the pIqaD writing system.
There is no known direct translation, but it seems to be used as a generic insult, covering situations where in English you might say "jerk", "coward" or "weirdo".
Actually, there may be some etymological connection to the Klingon word taQ, meaning "be weird". So, perhaps you'd use it in much the same way people say "weirdo", "freak", "creep", "perv" or even "nerd"! Tesseraktik (talk) 16:48, March 29, 2013 (UTC)
