Perhaps you are refering to "QUADROTRITICALE". First mentioned in TOS "The Troubble with Tribbles" as a four lobed hybrid of triticale capiable of being grown on planets where ordinary grain could not be. The only other time it was mentioned in Star Trek was in DS9 "Business as Usual" where Quark lost all of his money because he invested in "Quadrotriticale Futures". According to the DVD, it was mentioned in the script for "Trials and Tribble-ations", but was not mentioned on screen. Admiral William Thomas Riker 22:01, July 26, 2011 (UTC)
Addl answer: Actually, you may also be referring to QUINTOTRITICALE, which was a similar grain (presumably five-lobed triticale) mentioned in the ST: The Animated Series episode "More Tribbles, More Troubles." To my knowledge, this was the lone canon reference to this particular grain.
Spock's knowledge of quadrotriticale in ST:TOS "The Trouble with Tribbles" does seem to indicate that Spock may have a familarity or interest in Canadian history, perhaps through his mother... ProfessorTrek 11:00, July 29, 2011 (UTC)
